American-Swedish composer Daniel Nelson (b 1965) has previously been played by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra – the feverish orchestral piece Steampunk Blizzard attracted attention both in Gothenburg and on tour in Stockholm, Salzburg and Berlin. Here is Cardiac Fanfare which in just over three minutes bursts with rhythms and captivating motifs in the tradition of Leonard Bernstein.

Do you have a craving for powerful music? Then there are few who beat the Austrian Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) – music that floats out into eternity without limits and end. The Fourth Symphony is called “The Romantic” but it is more about emotions in general than love between two. He was a child of his time. And how did he not love to use the orchestra for the mildest passages, the greatest culminations and the longest melodies. Enter the musical train that in an hour transports you through all moods imaginable.

Whether it’s a famous piece or magnificent symphony, Vägus always performs with incredible energy and entusiasm. The symphony orchestra is constantly renewed, with only the conductor, Simon Phipps, having been with them since it was formed in 2000. The musicians are between the ages of 14 and 20, and for many, Vägus gives them a great experience that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Come play with us!

Each Spring and Autumn term, the orchestra gathers for a couple of weekends for intensive rehearsals. The days are filled with music making together with instructors from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra. Each term, Vägus goes on tour and gives concerts for both adults and children.
