The Grammy-awarded desert blues band from Mali lands in Gothenburg with their ninth album in the trunk. The music sweeps forward like a desert breeze in the nomadic universe that has become the hallmark of the band.

The album entitled Amadjar was named the “Global album of the month” by The Guardian when it was released in September 2019.

Tinariwen from Mali was started in a refugee camp in Libya in the late 1970s, but returned to northern Mali when fighting ceased. Since then, the band’s career has been teeming with success. In addition to their own albums, the group has also collaborated with artists such as Bono, Robert Plant and Carlos Santana. Music you can’t sit still to!

Or as the Göteborgs Posten describes it: “Music invented in an irresistible, indigo-colored package of nomadic, rebellious rock ‘n’ roll with suggestively monotonous rhythms, deep blue melodies and songs that breathe deeply missing but also positive anger and energy”.
