The National Orchestra of Sweden and guests present a sparkling evening in memory of Evert Taube. Featuring Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Myrra Malmberg, Mikael Samuelson, and conductor Peter Nordahl. Arranged in collaboration with Foundation Taubes Värld.
Celebrate Evert Taube with us! The National Orchestra of Sweden and guests present a sparkling evening in memory of Evert Taube. On a grand journey from Malö to Argentina, we pay tribute to Taube as an inspiration and national icon. The festive concert will be the highlight of a week-long celebration of Taube and the arrival of spring. In 2025, it will be 135 years since the great poet was born, and we are moving the immensely popular Taube concert to the Great Hall so that more people can join in.
The two singers and actors Myrra Malmberg and Mikael Samuelson are not only brilliant interpreters of Taube, but also two of Sweden’s foremost and most accomplished musical musical artists. Together with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, they promise a grand gala entirely in the spirit of Evert Taube.
The presenter is Martin Nyström, who is also responsible for the script and dramaturgy. The conductor is Peter Nordahl, who has arranged all the music.
Evert Taube longed for the free western horizon – a vantage point from which he could look out upon the world. We will follow Taube in his most sensuous moments, such as in his spectacular depiction of a eider hunt at dawn off Vinga, or in his dreams of resting on eiderdown in the Malö straits. And, of course, there will be swells, with the full orchestra, inspired by the old seafaring expression: “If there were no horizon, everything would be one big wave.”
