“One Hit Wonder”. That’s what we call artists who have one hit and are then forgotten about. Frenchman Eduardo Lalo is one such artist – his only surviving work is Symphonie Espagnole, the striking violin concerto that, in the 1870s, made a big splash, placing high on the chart.

It was on the repertoires of Heifetz and Oistrakh, and is on Frenchman Philippe Graffin’s. With elegance and a silky, soft tone, he takes the concerto to a new level.

As a contrast to its Spanish fieriness, there’ll be the murmur of Lei Feng Johansson’s Swedish Forest, the Symphony Orchestra’s commissioned work, now to be heard for the very first time.

Earlier announced conductor Joana Carneiroare has cancelled of medical grounds.

Aslo played as a Drive-in-concert 23 November

The concert can also be enjoyed as a Drive-in concert 23 November. During the second half of the concert (20.00 to 21.30) are seven new luxury cars in the Volvo 90-series parked at Götaplatsen. Welcome to take place in the cars and listen to the concert in a live broadcast from Great Hall straight into the world’s top sound system from Bowers & Wilkins, with the specially developed “Concert Mode”.

The Concert Mode has been developed as a reflection of the acoustics of the Great Hall, where the sound image is constructed from a detailed acoustic map of the hall and then fine-tuned by audio engineers from Volvo and Bowers & Wilkins using the software Dirac Unison. According to the reviewer Lasse Svendsen Sound & Picture one of the best tailored sound systems he has ever heard.
