Event has already taken place. Prokofiev’s fantastic music is almost as narrative as the happy and slightly scary story. For mellanstadiet (in swedish).
What will happen when the duck escapes, will the wolf jump up and catch the cat in the tree, will the farmers shoot the wolf? The fantastic music is almost as narrative as the story – the duck is an oboe, Peter a string quartet – but we won’t give away the ending here.
Following the premiere in the Soviet Union in 1936, Peter and the Wolf, commissioned by the central children’s theatre in Moscow, celebrated triumph after triumph across the world. The fable about good versus evil resonated with the young and the old, and Prokofiev’s expressive music with its catchy tunes stuck immediately.
Peter and the Wolf is one of the most performed works of the whole classical repertoire, and also took Prokofiev to Hollywood, where Disney made an animated film of the story. At this performance, there is not only the story and the music, but other fun stuff too.
Presenter is Sara Edwardsson, who is recognized from TV programs such as Bolibompa, Supersnällasilversara, Morgonshowen and Nattens hjältar. She has a great love for music and has released several own children’s albums over the years.
