Event has already taken place. Sivan Magen and Gwyneth Wentink play beloved classics from Bach and the Masters of the harp world. The concert is part of the Harp Festival, which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall 17-19 May.
The harp duo Sivan Magen from Israel and Gwyneth Wentink, the Netherlands, are two of the biggest names in the harp world right now. Magen is celebrated for his expression, color and virtuosity, Wentink for her creativity and her exploration of the instrument’s possibilities. Many composers have written directly for her. The concert features beloved classical music by, among others, J. S. Bach, Schubert and Enrique Granados rearranged for harp.
The second half of the concert is entirely devoted to the Dutch composer Simeon Ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato, a minimalist work written without specifying how many people play, which instruments, or even how long the piece should be. The music is structured like paths where the musicians themselves choose which paths they take, how and when they arrive. It is tonal, or as Ten Holt himself said, “tonality after the death of tonality.”
The concert is part of the Harp Festival which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall from 17-19 May – a unique opportunity to get to know this beautiful and mythical instrument. The ticket price for the chamber concerts is SEK 20-40/concert, so take the opportunity to feast!
