Sibelius’ fifth symphony is one of his most popular, even though it was created under dramatic circumstances, during the First World War.

Worry about the war, creative angst, and a troublesome private life – booze, tobacco, debt – placed obstacles in the way. In spite of all this, it became a wondrously beautiful creation, inspired by the singing swans in the Finnish archipelago.

Percussionist Martin Grubinger is a celebrated star in Europe, an artist that people come from far and wide to experience. He is now going to tour Germany with the Gothenburg Symphony, and there will of course be concerts in Gothenburg as well. With something very exciting on the programme: Kalevi Aho’s percussion concerto Sieidi.

Date night at the Concert Hall

In the sign of love, we also offer tremendous surprises and escapades on 14 and 15 February. Come as you are, meet a new love, or bring your loved ones. Together we will make the world a little extra loving for a while. ❤️

On Friday 15 February we span Amor’s bow extra high. Then we invite you to speedmeeting before the concert, in collaboration with Singel in Sweden. It’s playful and inclusive, and just as much to find a new friend as to find love. Sign up when you arrive at 17.00. Fine prices are promised to the one who talks with most people. After the concert, we serve power ballads at the bar in the Götaplatsfoajén.

Welcome!
