A Viennese classic with pianist Mari Kodama and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, followed by Sibelius’ personal and deeply moving second symphony.

How did Beethoven break through in Vienna? Well, he was mostly known as an improvising piano virtuoso, but became the composer on everybody’s lips over night after he played his piano concerto in B-flat major – the first, despite the numbering – on the 29th of March, 1795. An incredible career had begun.

Marie Kodama is the soloist for this Viennese classic, which is followed by Sibelius’ personal and deeply moving second symphony. Conductor: Santtu-Matias Rouvali, the orchestra’s chief conductor.
