Event has already taken place. Legendary folk musician and poet from Ireland in a magical collaboration with Swedish band Quilty.
Andy Irvine, legendary Irish folk musician and poet, visits the Gothenburg Concert Hall in a magical musical collaboration with Swedish band Quilty. They went on a celebrated anniversary tour together last year, which naturally led to a continued collaboration in 2024.
In 2023, Swedish folk music ensemble Quilty celebrated 30 years with a tour alongside major source of inspiration Andy Irvine, who was celebrating 50 years as a musician that year. Ever since Irvine’s breakthrough with the band Planxty in the 70s, his melodic mandolin performances have been trendsetting for generations of folk musicians in Ireland and around the globe.
Over the years, Quilty has become established as Sweden’s top Irish folk music ensemble, with members Esbjörn Hazelius, Dag Westling, Staffan Lindfors and Gideon Andersson. With personalised arrangements, musical virtuosity and gorgeous harmonies, this concert is a continued tribute to the life’s work of a legend.
This concert is presented with support from the Swedish Arts Council and Culture Ireland.
DJ Said plays records in the foyer before the concert and the bar is open. Bring all your friends and come!
