The composer Mats Larsson Gothe has written new music for the film The Phantom Carriage (Körkarlen), with world premiere at the Gothenburg International Film Festival 2017.  Hear him tell us how it happened – from countless movie hours to grand orchestral music through a cabin in the mountains and a small silver midi keyboard.

When The Phantom Carriage is shown at the Gothenburg International Film Festival in February 2017 it will be accompanied by the Gothenburg Symphony, which plays completely new score to the film.

The music is commissioned by the composer Mats Larsson Gothe. He has been active as a composer full time since 1995 and has composed works in most genres; musical theater, orchestral works, solo recitals and chamber music. He has in recent years become one of Sweden’s most acclaimed composers, not least by the success of the Norrland Opera in operas Poet and Prophetess (2006-2007) and Blanche and Marie (2012-2014), by PO Enquist’s novel.
