American Vijay Iyer is frighteningly talented. He gained his doctorate with a dissertation on Western African and Afro-American music, and is a Professor of the Arts at Harvard.

He writes string quartets and orchestral music – recorded by ECM – and plays the piano like nobody’s business. The latest trio CD Break Stuff received the highest rating in Downbeat in January, 2015.
