Event has already taken place. Chamber concert: Fredrik From & Samuel Runsteen violin, Susanne Brunström viola, Mime Brinkmann cello, Olof Larsson violone
Some of the musicians of the Gothenburg Symphony, together with friends, make up an authentic quintet that plays both classics – two of Mozart’s renowned divertimentos – and rarities, such as the Trios by Maddalena Sirmen (1745-1818), the poor girl from Venice who became a celebrated violin virtuoso and composer, with successes in Paris and London. Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805), the masterful composer for string instruments, wrote many small jewels for small ensembles, and Joseph Eybler, a resident of Vienna who is today almost forgotten, was a court Kapellmeister and composed music for the Empress Maria Theresa. He was also a good friend of Mozart’s, but his life ended tragically after a stroke suffered while conducting Mozart’s Requiem in 1833.
