Event has already taken place. Experience a quartet of award-winning young harpists in music by Henriette Renié, Fauré and Smetana. The concert is part of the Harp Festival, which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall 17-19 May.
The poetic piece Légende that opens this concert was written by Henriette Renié in 1903. She was one of the first female harpists with a distinguished career. The Paris Conservatoire still echoes with the reverberations of her diploma concert, which is said to have been one of the most powerful musical experiences ever to affect a diploma jury.
As we now, French music does very well on the harp. The concert includes music by André Caplet, a good friend of Claude Debussy, who orchestrated several of his friend’s works. Newer music is also played, such as the evocatively minimalistic Embodiment by American Molly Joyce. As conclusion, we hear the water of the spring river rippling through the strings in Smetana’s wonderful Moldau.
The four harpists have all won prizes at the Scandinavian Harp Course and are now united in a concert. Lara Macrì, Lara Krzysko and Joanna Thalmann have all studied in Oslo.
The concert is part of the Harp Festival which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall from 17-19 May – a unique opportunity to get to know this beautiful and mythical instrument. The ticket price for the chamber concerts is SEK 20-40/concert, so take the opportunity to feast!
