Event has already taken place. Experience the concert hall organ's 9000 pipes with Canadian concert organist Isabelle Demers in connection with Göteborg International Organ Festival 2023.
We welcome back Canadian concert organist Isabelle Demers, an inventive and in-demand soloist in the US and Canada.
The concert is held in connection with the Göteborg International Organ Festival 2023, where this years theme is Echoes – in music, culture, history and society.
The last time Isabelle Demers was here, she challenged the Concert Hall’s large Rieger organ on both Bach and Stravinsky. Now three women are in the spotlight. The program includes music by Gothenburg’s own organ star at the turn of the last century, Elfrida Andrée, as well as by French Nadia Boulanger, one of the most important teachers of composition in modern times.
To conclude, there will be love and drama when Isabelle Demers plays her own transcription of Prokofiev’s famous ballet suite Romeo and Juliet.
Just go along and let the sounds of the 9000 organ pipes echo in the room.
The organ is called “the queen of instruments” and for a good reason: no other acoustic instrument is so varied in sound and dynamics, from the weakest, solitary tone to massive chords that make it vibrate in floors and walls. Join the tour inside the fascinating instrument together with Hans Davidsson from Göteborg International Organ Academy!
