Iceland has a rich and vibrant musical heritage with roots dating back to the first centuries of the settlement of the country. This year Iceland is celebrating 80 years of independence. On the occasion the Icelandic choir in Gothenburg, together with Icelandic and Swedish vocal soloists and musicians are presenting to a Swedish audience a selection of this musical treasure – until now relatively little known in Sweden!
The Icelandic choir in Gothenburg will also perform new compositions, written especially for the occasion!

Elísabet Einarsdóttir, soprano soloist at the Malmö Opera
Herbjörn Þórðarson, bass baritone at the Gothenburg Opera
Lisa Fröberg, pianist, conductor and accompanist at the Gothenburg Opera i.a.
Auður Magnúsdóttir, presenter; senior lecturer in Nordic history at the University of Gothenburg.
The arrangement is made in collaboration with the Icelandic embassy in Stockholm.
