Event has already taken place. Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Barbara Hannigan conductor, Tuuri Dede mezzo-soprano, Aphrodite Patoulidou soprano
Barbara Hannigan likes to plan her concert programmes down to the last detail. Music that feels so spontaneous and natural in concert in reality follows a carefully set-out plan. Hannigan may pair Claude Vivier’s emotional music with a chipper Haydn symphony, for example, followed by a tender turn-of-the-century lullaby. Precisely what this concert treats us to!
Soloists tonight are fellow singers Aphrodite Patoulidou and Tuuri Dede.
Barbara Hannigan has been the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor since the 2019-2020 season, together with Christoph Eschenbach. Listen to this interview to hear her talk about her art and her expectations ahead of joining the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
In the autumn of 2021, we will not give any introductions to the concerts due to the pandemic. Comments on the current programme for this particular concert can be found in connection with the names of the works under the heading Programme on this page (in swedish). You will get even more angles and keys to classical music in the concert magazine Podiet (in swedish) and the lecture series Classical Curiosities at GSOplay (in english).
