Event has already taken place. Gothenburg Symphony, Gothenburg Symphonic Choir, Nathalie Stutzmann conductor, song soloists
Handel was London’s musical king, but the Messiah was first performed in Dublin, where Handel was invited in 1742: “Clearly superior to anything similar that has been performed in this or any other kingdom” wrote the Dublin Newsletter.
Handel led the performance from his organ that was shipped from London for the concerts. Since then, the Messiah has earned its place in the repertoire and every year continues to spread joy with favourites like Ev’ry Valley, For Unto Us a Child is Born, and of course the mighty Hallelujah chorus.
In Gothenburg Concert Hall the epic music will be performed by Gothenburg Symphony, Gothenburg Symphony Choir, song soloists and conductor Nathalie Stutzmann.
She is both an internationally celebrated vocalist and an acclaimed conductor: “The kind of fervour you associate with Gustavo Dudamel” (Philadelphia Inquirer). With her expertise, she can lift Handel’s magnificent Messiah to new heights.
The 16 december concert is broadcasted to cinemas all over Sweden in collaboration with Folkets Hus och Parker.
