Love, life and desire with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra; Patrik Ringborg, conductor; and Hanna Husáhr, soprano.
Composer Rolf Martinsson’s mother was a member of the vocal ensemble Göingeflickorna, and his earliest musical memories originate in public parks. His works are now performed worldwide and he is acclaimed for his courage to compose “sinfully sexy music”. The lyrics to the suite Ich denke Dein… are from the romantic German poets Goethe, von Eichendorff and Rilke. The common theme is love for another and for nature. The soloist is internationally celebrated swedish soprano Hanna Husáhr.
The romance continues with Wilhelm Stenhammar’s Symphony No. 1, a work which – in his best Sturm und Drang style – he revoked shortly after its premiere. Following his death, his own orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, brought it back into the repertoire. Patrik Ringborg, who has plenty of Swedish neoromanticism on his CV, conducts.
