From Stockhausen to Esaias Järnegard

Event has already taken place

In 2018–2019, Gageego! goes out hunting for contemporary links, the starting point being composers that the ensemble has longed to perform for a long time and favourite composers.

Based on these Gageego! icons, the ensemble has searched, traced and sniffed out (googled!) its way to the different composers’ respective influence on the world of music and later composers. Seek and you will find, listen and you will dream…

German post-war modernist music rests largely on two heavy pillars: Helmut Lachenmann’s harsh, historic gaze on the one hand, and Karlheinz Stockhausen’s growing – over the years – cosmic sounds. In the evening’s programme, we’ll hear their music and learn how they caused multiple echoes – from Billone’s ritual outbursts to Simone Movio’s hyper-precise notes.
