Event has already taken place. A captivating mix of folk music from the Shetland Islands, Norway and Sweden, performed by a passionate trio of fiddlers.
The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc is a captivating trio of fiddlers from Norway, Sweden and the Shetland Islands. Fiddle, viola, octave fiddle and Hardanger fiddle – with passion this trio plays a mix of folk music from the various countries, which complement each other perfectly.
From the moment that Anders Hall from Sweden, Olav Luksengård Mjelva from Norway and Kevin Henderson from the Shetland Islands played together for the first time in 2009, a special chemistry was created in the sound they produced. Around 700 performances later, with concerts in Scandinavia, Europe and the USA, this trio is still characterised by the same marvellous chemistry and energy.
The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc’s latest album, Bonfrost, was released in 2020. On tracks like Schottishe Kerlou, En Konstig Fan and Dravbakken, each song retains its clear folk music character but gains new, captivating nuances in the meeting with the other two traditions. Fiddle, viola, octave fiddle and Hardanger fiddle – with passion this trio plays instruments which complement each other perfectly. The mix creates variation in their tone and sound, embellishing the music so that the trio sound more like a quartet.
