Event has already taken place. FeminEast sheds light on unique female voices. Kurdish-Iranian singer Sahar Zibaei is fronting Mah Ensemble, with famous tar player Majis Derakhshani.
Promoting and supporting Persian artists has been a given part of their work. Just like on their latest Europe tour, Kurdish-Iranian singer Sahar Zibaei is fronting. A young and driven female artist performing Kurdish folk music and Iranian classical music. She is accompanied, among others, by Majis Derakhshani, who is regarded as the master of the tar, a long-necked bow and one of Iran’s most important instruments.
In an unforgettable concert series, FeminEast sheds light on unique female voices. Women who do not traditionally have the same conditions as men. Whose voices are not heard as loud. But performing arts has a power. An ability to change. Through the arts, they work for freedom and make room for that change. In a world where not everyone has the same conditions, they remind the audience of the potential of performing arts.
This year FeminEast offers a unique artist cavalcade with fantastic performances and hit-and-go musical experiences. Everything from traditional ancient music styles, classical Arabic and Persian music to post-progressive jazz and funk. The concerts are part of the Riksteatern’s annual recurring theme initiative Voices of Change, which will host the Gothenburg Concert Hall on November 29-December 1, 2019.
