The parameters are set by the baroque period. Bugge stretches them. Jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and his trio, alongside the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, take to the stage.

The spirit of Johann Sebastian Bach is in the wings, with a supposed smile on his lips. When the ensemble performs its interpretation of his famous Goldberg Variations in new arrangements by Terje Tønnesen, the musicians move seamlessly between original movements and improvisation. As Bugge Wesseltoft says; ’The important thing is to let inspiration develop, to work towards finding a unique means of personal expression.’ Bach would have liked it.
