Nordic jazz sounds are in focus when Bohuslän Big Band and Vince Mendoza gather some of the Nordic region’s best vocal and instrumental soloists. The respected conductor and arranger Vince Mendoza is the artistic director and has arranged the music and conducts the big band. In addition to the big band, he also has soloists Nils Landgren on trombone, vocalist Silje Nergaard, double bassist Lars Danielsson and pianist Helge Lien. They have all chosen their favorites from the Nordic jazz treasure, which in Vince Mendoza’s hands is dressed with new sounds, colors and emotions.

Bohuslän Big Band both nurtures and challenges the big band genre. Fearless and exploratory, they enter into a wide variety of musical collaborations and have an audience of all ages. Over the years they have played blue notes with international jazz giants such as Gregory Porter, Maria Schneider and Nils Landgren and have accompanied renowned artists such as Jill Johnson, Samuel Ljungblahd and Solala. They have also shared the stage with young jazz talents and have playfully encouraged thousands of children to discover the surging tones of big band music.
