Expect the unexpected. A credo that could have been composed by Beethoven himself, a man who stumped his contemporaries. His “Emperor Concerto” is an excellent example: with refreshing spontaneity, the pianist seems to freewheel in between more disciplined orchestral sections.

Legendary pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja is a soloist at one of Europe’s leading chamber orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The concert ends with Beethoven’s Symphony No.2, an energetic work that gives us a glimpse of the innovative composer Beethoven would eventually become.
