The Baroque Academy has been around for about five years and comprises some twenty musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra driven by a common desire to explore and live to make music from the 1600s and 1700s.

This is a period which normally outside a symphony orchestra repertoire area, but that is important to understand Western music tradition’s development. It is also a period with a lot of great music!

The ensemble has been visited by, among others, soprano Helena Ek, recorder player Dan Laurin, Magnus Kjellsson harpsichordist and violinist Fredrik From. In March this year collaborated Academy Baroque violinist Iwona Muszynska from the Academy of Ancient Music in London.

At this concert the ensemble led by Italian cellist Stefano Veggetti, which now also becomes the Baroque Academy’s artistic director. We look forward to an exciting collaboration! Visiting musicians is also the great harpsichordist Takashi Watanabe.

The same day as the concert is given the Gothenburg Symphony releases season 2017-2018. To celebrate this, it ios free entrance to the concert! No seat reservations, just come. Welcome!
