French work, French conductor, French soloist. How is that for authenticity? Hélène Grimaud has had Ravel on her repertoire since her student days at the Paris Conservatory, as well as performing his piano concertos with the world’s foremost orchestras and conductors.

Those who heard her rendition of Ravel’s Concerto in G Major with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in 2012 know what is in store: élan and esprit! Her countryman Lionel Bringuier has achieved rapid international acclaim and in 2014 became the Music Director of the illustrious Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich. It is as if Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique were made for him, just as the breathtaking Helix by his friend and colleague, Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Hélène Grimaud is Artist in Residence at Gothenburg Symphony 2017-2018.

The concert installation Durations

When you arrive to the Concert Hall you will find the concert installation Durations in the entrance hall. It is Ensemble Makadam experimenting with performing live music as installation in places other than traditional concert halls.
