Event has already taken place. American harpist Anna-Helena Hamann and winner of Polstjärnepriset Award Johanna Ander Ljung play French music. The concert is part of the Harp Festival, which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall 17-19 May.
Two true young rising stars are the harpists Anna-Helena Hamann, USA, and Swedish Johanna Ander Ljung. The repertoire they offer is French, something that Hamann loves for the expressiveness and sensitivity of the music. You can see and hear that on her YouTube channel.
23-year-old Johanna Ander Ljung from Danderyd won the final of the Polstjärnepriset Award in 2018 with the motivation “With obvious musicality and elegance, the winner shows her superior mastery of the instrument’s rich dynamics and tonal palette”.
The music spans three centuries. Baroque master Couperin’s fun “Le Tic-Toc-Choc” is cumbersome to play on the piano because you have to keep your hands on top of each other. On harp the problem does not occur. And doesn’t the title alone pave way for viral success?
Turn-of-the-century composer Marcel Tournier’s wonderful sonata and the piece La Volière Magique taken from a harp suite are also included this morning, as is music by Philippe Hersant. He is represented with the dreamy Bamyan, named after the Afghan city called “a shining star”.
The concert is part of the Harp Festival which takes place in Gothenburg Concert Hall from 17-19 May – a unique opportunity to get to know this beautiful and mythical instrument. The ticket price for the chamber concerts is SEK 20-40/concert, so take the opportunity to feast!
