The live music is starting to return to the city stages after many, long and quiet months. We want to celebrate this together with the people of Gothenburg by setting up a very special evening that lifts and supports the musicians of the future via a fundraiser for Popkollo Gothenburg and the Rescue Mission’s Community School Tynnered.

On 30 September Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra will play in the Concert Hall together with the specially invited artists Jill Johnson, Linnea Henriksson, Daniel Lemma, Amanda Werne and Mimi Bay – a collaboration between Göteborgs-Posten, Göteborg & Co and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

“Cooperation during a pandemic means everything. I’m so happy to be a part of musical meetings right now, and it has seldom felt more luxurious to be able to sing with a symphony orchestra. Very much looking forward to this! ”, Says Jill Johnson.

The artists sing their own songs as well as unique duets and the concert is also broadcasted live on gp.se.

“This will be a fantastic way to draw attention to the importance of music and culture for the city’s citizens. By letting the Gothenburg Symphony and some of Western Sweden’s finest artists meet on stage, we also manifest the importance of meeting to share new experiences. I am very happy that the concert is shown on gp.se as part of our ongoing effort to offer our readers unique cultural experiences “, says Johan Lindqvist, project manager for GP’s streamed concerts.

In connection with the concert, a fundraiser will take place for the non-profit activities Popkollo Gothenburg and the Rescue Mission’s Community School Tynnered which will start orchestral activities for children and young people this autumn, after school.

“The musicians in the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, as well as the artists they meet this evening, have all started by discovering an instrument and the music’s inherent power. We want more young people to make the same discovery and, regardless of genre, get a chance to meet around music and become part of the professional music life in the future – for an even stronger cultural life today and tomorrow “, says Linda Belanner, head of the Youth Department and community involvement at the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
