Piazzolla: Oblivion
Piazzolla was called the King of Tango and his music spread like wildfire around the world: for many people, tango equals Astor Piazzolla.
This creative Argentine turned a sensual dance for two into great concert music – resulting in suites for orchestra and chamber ensemble. Here, four cellists from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra play the dreamy tango Oblivion, composed for Marco Bellocchio’s film Henry IV (1984) after Nobel Laureate Luigi Pirandello’s tragicomic play starring Claudia Cardinale and Marcello Mastroianni.
